One of the major advantages of Daylight Savings is of course the extra hours of sunlight in the evening. I decided to take advantage of that, grabbed my camera and head out on a  local bus to anywhere and see what  opportunities  present themselves. Transport - MBTA Bus This was shot on a local area bus heading in to Boston on the evening of March 26th. I had to wait a couple of stops for the bus to empty before taking this shot of the empty seats in front of me. Taken with t he  Pentax SMCP-M 50mm f2  mounted to my Pentax k200d DLSR.

Easy Drive To Work As the Christmas holidays approach I am noticing a definite improvement on my drive times to work, if only everyday of the year it was this easy! ;) Taken with the LG Optimus Elite, No post processing.

2 minutes When traveling throughout the US on vacation of the past few years it has always shocked me how many cities beat Boston for public transportation facilitys, and now finally the MBTA has brought the T in to the 21st century by posting the wait time for commuters on (most) of its stations. A Brand New Day The sun was barely shining as it hung low in the late afternoon sky on this election eve . Taken from the window of a redline MBTA train heading in to Cambridge. Taken with the  LG Optimus Elite  no post processing.

Sandwich Truck I pass this truck nearly everyday as I pass by the local area college and am often tempted to try it . I've not had the best experience with getting food from sandwich trucks in the past so have shied away from it for now. Last Train With the MBTA cancellation all public transportation as of 2pm today this could be the last train in or out of Boston. Taken with the  Canon PowerShot SX230HS  in landscape mode, flash did not fire. Tone adjusted in post processing .

Coming In To Land One of the cool things of living in the Boston area is the close proximity of Logan Airport for going places but also for chances to catch some great shots of planes coming in to land, or taking off, if that's your thing. Approaching from the north through the over cast Boston skies this plane appeared to navigate between the clouds. I like how the clouds frame the shot of this small jumbo jet. I wonder where they were flying in from. Taken with the  Canon PowerShot SX230HS  in shutter priority mode 1/1250, flash did not fire. P ost processing for color correction to give the clouds a little more pop.

Not High Speed Train Whichever candidate wins the election this year I hope they are going to invest in public transportation. The MBTA is showing it's age in Boston and when I hear from relatives of the high speed rail in Europe and Japan it makes me sad to think that America is being left behind. Rant over. Deserted Broadway Station This shot was taken just before rush hour in Boston today believe it or not. I had just missed the northbound train and was able to capture the platform deserted in this shot. Taken with the LG Optimus Elite , no post processing.

The Road More Traveled The Boston commute home from work today was as usual painfully slow. I made the most of it while being stuck in traffic of taking this shot through the passenger side window of my car. I like that you can see the hard shoulder in the side mirror. Science Park This is a view of the Science Park area of Boston/Cambridge taken on this morning on my way to work. Early in the AM is certainly the time of day to be out and about in Boston in the summer before the heat and humidity hits you. Rainy Day Driving Another photo taken while driving around the Boston area, today's commute was a little bit of a nightmare, driving around Boston at the best of times and you take your own life in your hands but when it rains you better start a praying! Taken with the LG Optimus Elite from the dashboard of my car (while stopped in traffic) cropped, converted to B&W White and selective color edited in post processing.

I95 Summer Driving In contrast to my post earlier this week today's driving around all points Mass was a joy (for the most part except for rt1 shopping areas). Taken with the LG Optimus Elite, cropped in post processing and yellow filter applied for that summer holiday of yesteryear look.

I93 Delays Interstate 93 is never fun to drive at the best of times, and avoiding it in the mornings is definitely the way to go (for me anyhow). However, my commute home on most days has been a breeze, not tonight however there were large delays in and out of Boston I93 North and South. If you're in the Boston area this evening avoid this route at all costs if you can! Taken with the LG Optimus Elite, cropped in post processing.

Abandoned Rail Tracks Found in the rather unexpected place of Arlington Center these tracks remain untouched despite the majority of the old rail tracks being converted in to bike pathways. No risk of being run over here unless you include the countless cyclists whom disregard the no riding on the pavement laws. I hate the composition in this one, but hey this was taken on my phone and I was in a hurry. Taken with the LG Rumor touch, no post processing.

Longfellow Bridge Another cloudy day, and another crappy camera phone image. A little post processing later to correct contrast and levels and we have the post for today's photo taken in from the Longfellow Bridge between Boston and Cambridge. JFK/Umass T Station Southbound T station at JFK/Umass, those red line trains certainly don't run too often . Waiting for the train in the cold is captured well in this B&W photo, tip for any south bound T riders, wait at Andrew station for the braintree bound train in the warmth and comfort of the underground station. Taken with the Canon PowerShot SX230HS in landscape mode and converted to B&W in post processing.
