A walk around down town Montreal is always a pleasure. From the old city to the new and in between the two is the Palais des Congrès with it's marvelous colored glass windows which on a sunny late afternoon like this one provide a splendid opportunity for fulfilling one of my goals for this year's photography project. This evening was just the perfect weather for biking, not too hot, not too humid and plenty of light to be seen by the Boston area automobile drivers who simply don't give a crap about cyclists. #staysafeoutthere Into The Sun Taken with the  LG Optimus Elite ,  handheld .  No post processing. Trees on a Cambridge street cast long shadows in the late day sun of spring. Shadows - A tree lined Cambridge street Taken  with t he  Pentax SMCP-M 50mm f2  mounted to my Pentax k200d DLSR. A second contender for shadows is this shot taken with my Canon P&S of the trees of the Mystic River casting shadows on the snow during the Winter months, but I preferred the above shot myself.

Financial District Sun While walking through Boston's Financial District today I was blinded by the sun reflecting off of the area skyscrapers. Taken with the LG Optimus Elite, No post processing.

Winter Sun Driving in to Boston these days can be hazardous to your health, and I don't just mean the road rage gun fights on I93, I mean the low winter sun blazing on none overcast days. This was captured this  morning  while I made my best attempt not to kill any children on the way to work, when viewed the camera the very dirty windshield of my car didn't look quite as bad as this! T aken with the  LG Optimus Elite , no post processing. PS. I noticed later that it looks like I may have used a sky light or graded neutral density filter but actually that's just the sun protection at the top of my windshield.

Mystic River The sun was shining, the air felt like spring and the fall colors were in full bloom today. I'm told by local area weather experts that this won't last, so make the most of it! Taken with the  Canon PowerShot SX230HS  in landscape mode, flash did not fire.  No post processing.

Autumnal Sun It may well have been bright and sunny today but if you were outside you certainly knew it was autumn and I think converting today's photo in to B&W with the dark silhouette of these trees captures the brisk harshness of the air. A Brand New Day The sun was barely shining as it hung low in the late afternoon sky on this election eve . Taken from the window of a redline MBTA train heading in to Cambridge. Taken with the  LG Optimus Elite  no post processing.

Fall In To The Sun While out on today's photo walk, a very short walk because of the cold the sun shining through the now very brown leaves of the trees caught my eye. Taken with the  LG Optimus Elite ,  no post processing.

After The Storm The sun was still there and rose again after the storm that was Sandy passed through our area. The winds made me think the roof or our home wasn't going to be there when I checked this morning but thankfully it was, however there were hundreds of others in the North East who weren't as lucky. Holy Hedera The sun catching the changing color of the leaves of this ivy I thought looked interested against the wall of this neighborhood church. Note: Hedera is the latin name for Ivy, and yes I had to look that up. Taken with the  Canon PowerShot SX230HS  in landscape mode, flash did not fire. Cropped for aspect in p ost processing to avoid overhead cables showing, their shadow can still be seen in the shot.

Look Right Sometimes there's a photograph to be made in places when you least expect them, as in today when the sun was shining and this scene presented itself when I looked to the right. There was only one chance to get this as trees were lining the side of the road either side of this stretch of water and there was no time to check composition or focus, just line up the camera evenly with the horizon and shoot. Somerville Sun Flares I like breaking the rule of photography of not taking shots in to the sun, today in Somerville the sun was shining high on this one of last days of summer. Taken with the LG Optimus Elite , curves adjusted in post processing to increase the detail in shadow but the lens flare here is real not added in post.

Daisies These daisies were craving any welcome break of sun they could get during today's thundershowers. Taken with the Canon PowerShot SX230HS daylight filter added in post processing.

Mystic Sunset The sun was shining high in the sky this evening to make up for all the rain these past few days I think. Taken in to the sun with the Pentax K200d mounted to a Pentax DA 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL lens with no on curves adjusted slightly in post processing to enhance areas in shadow.

The Sun Returns After a week of miserable weather in the Boston area the sun finally has returned just in time for the weekend! This is shot through the closet window in my rental apartment and shows the windows need cleaning. Taken with the Canon PowerShot SX230HS in landscape mode, no post processing.

Sunrise in Cambridge This morning's bright sunshine was the first that warmer temps were returning to the region Taken with the Canon PowerShot SX230HS , tone adjusted slightly in post processing .

Sun Over The Boston Public Gardens A walk through the Boston Common and Public Gardens after work today allowed me to capture the sun shining brightly overhead while the temps hit 80f. Taken with LG Rumor Touch I snapped 2 photos and combined them in post processing to make one large square aspect ratio frame for a total of 1622x1622 before uploading to blogger.

Western Ave, Cambridge Heading home I caught the late afternoon sun shining over the homes on Western Ave. This was tone corrected and color enhanced in PhotoShop. Taken with the Canon PowerShot SX230HS .

Dawn Flight An aircraft coming in to land at Logan Airport is nearly covered by the morning sun as the South Boston industrial buildings are silhouetted here. There's been a lot of news this week about solar flare activity, if you look hard enough I think you can see it in this photograph ;) Taken with the Canon PowerShot SX 230HS in Auto mode and levels adjusted in Photoshop.
