Blue Mountains - My First Ever Watercolor Painting

Image
Having been inspired by my mother-in-law to learn how to paint over the Christmas holidays I picked up some supplies and decided to give it a go.  I am not sure where this journey will take me, if i'll stick with it or not but I'm sure going to have fun trying. My first attempt was at a landscape watercolor in the style of Bob Ross having watched several of his shows over the years, I wanted to do a mountain scene with some little happy trees!  Looking back on this I believe I would have had better success using Acrylic paints than water colors for mixing and blending the colors together on the canvas, but I have to say I am very happy with this as a first ever attempt.

Tiny Worlds

Image
The next logical progression from panaromics, of which I seem obsessed, was to create the 'globe effect' of a tiny world from such paranomas in post processing. Thanks to such great mobile phone apps as Globe Photo (from kexxu) it's so simple to create these little tiny worlds Flags, Boston Common - Memorial Day, May 2015 Mystic River Reservation - June 2014 Charles River - June 2014 Montreal Beach, August 2014 Montreal, August 2014 Old Port Montreal, August 2014 Place d'Armes Montreal, August 2014 Boston at night, August 2014 Lynn Beach, August 2014 Nahant Beach, August 2014 Boston Skyline, September 2014 Medford Community Day, September 2014 Charles River, October 2014 Kings Beach, October 2014 Castle Island, November 2014 Sunset, Medford, November 2014

Photography Project - Landscape

Image
In the most unlikely of places was shot a photo for an assignment entitled 'Landscape'. This was taken in the center of London. Hyde Park to be precise at sunset providing I think you will agree a rural landscape in an urban setting. Landscape - Hyde Park, London at dusk   Taken with the  LG Optimus Elite ,  handheld,  no p ost processing.

Photography Project - Train Tracks

Image
With that 'almost Spring' feeling in the air a photograph walk was in order this afternoon and with shot of these Train Tracks not to far from where I live knock another topic off of my photography goals for this year. Train Tracks Taken handheld with my the Pentax K200d and  a  Sigma 70mm F/2.8 EX DG Macro Lens  attached with no flash. Taken on 'Landscape' mode with on body stabilization turned on. P ost processing to increase contrast and convert to B&W. Note: Using a  can of compressed air for cleaning a camara sensor probably would have some cringing but a very short burst of air before heading out for the day seems to have done the trick and a no longer have to do any post processing to remove those stubborn dust spots for the bottom right corner of all my shots. Bonus!
