The bad part about going to the beach in Massachussets (see previous post) is of course the traffic, and dealing with the I93 on the way home. #bostonproblems Traffic - I93 I couldn't resist capturing the bad traffic on what I expected to be one of the worst commuting days in to Boston, the first day back to work after the holiday weekend that is Labor Day. Fortunately the commute wasn't that bad only taking 5 minutes longer than my average time of ~20 minutes. Easy Drive To Work As the Christmas holidays approach I am noticing a definite improvement on my drive times to work, if only everyday of the year it was this easy! ;) Taken with the LG Optimus Elite, No post processing.

Winter Sun Driving in to Boston these days can be hazardous to your health, and I don't just mean the road rage gun fights on I93, I mean the low winter sun blazing on none overcast days. This was captured this  morning  while I made my best attempt not to kill any children on the way to work, when viewed the camera the very dirty windshield of my car didn't look quite as bad as this! I noticed later that it looks like I may have used a sky light or graded neutral density filter but actually that's just the sun protection at the top of my windshield.

Suburban Traffic It seems like there's no good time of the day or week to be on the Boston area suburban roads these days, even getting out on early Sunday afternoon is no guarantee of smooth ride especially as the holidays upon us. This shot was taken while the car was stopped a traffic light, don't drive and shoot photos kiddies! Taken with the  LG Optimus Elite , no post processing .

2 minutes When traveling throughout the US on vacation of the past few years it has always shocked me how many cities beat Boston for public transportation facilitys, and now finally the MBTA has brought the T in to the 21st century by posting the wait time for commuters on (most) of its stations. Taken with the  LG Optimus Elite  no post processing.

Look Right Sometimes there's a photograph to be made in places when you least expect them, as in today when the sun was shining and this scene presented itself when I looked to the right. There was only one chance to get this as trees were lining the side of the road either side of this stretch of water and there was no time to check composition or focus, just line up the camera evenly with the horizon and shoot. Taken with the  Canon PowerShot SX230HS  in landscape mode, flash did not fire. P ost processing for aspect, tone correction and removal of some dirt spots that were on the car window.

Fall Colors While heading out for a trek through the Mohawk Trail (rt2) in Massachusetts today to do some leaf peeping I was caught at this light on rt117 and snapped this shot. Apparently a lot of other people in MA had the same idea of making good use of this sunny day. Taken with the Pentax K200d with the  Pentax DA 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL lens  ,no post processing.

What Is This Blue Thing? What with the terrible grey skies in the Boston area of late you could be forgiven for asking what is this blue thing hanging high above our heads today. It certainly was a very pleasant surprise to see the sun and blue skies returning this afternoon while driving the I93. With the long holiday weekend the traffic was surprisingly light too, thankfully. Taken with the  LG Optimus Elite , cut for aspect with no post processing.

McGrath Highway Bridge During the commute to work this morning the sun was shining but it certainly felt like fall was here. As I cranked on the cars heat while waiting for light to change in Somerville this morning I captured the sun light shining on this McGrath Highway Bridge. Taken with the LG Optimus Elite , cropped for aspect in post processing and tone adjusted.

Night Rider Yet again very nearly forget to take a photograph for today's post and had to resort to snapping this shot while driving home on I93 from friends cook out. Despite the fact the photograph is both blurred and noisy it reflects how my head feels now after an evening of eating, drinking and smoking cigars. Taken with the LG Optimus Elite , contrast adjusted in post processing.

Traffic Problems The problem with getting out of the city for the day is that eventually you need to come back, and that it seems is what everyone else in the Boston area was thinking today as I was stuck on I93 earlier today. Taken with the LG Optimus Elite , no post processing.

The Road More Traveled The Boston commute home from work today was as usual painfully slow. I made the most of it while being stuck in traffic of taking this shot through the passenger side window of my car. I like that you can see the hard shoulder in the side mirror. Science Park This is a view of the Science Park area of Boston/Cambridge taken on this morning on my way to work. Early in the AM is certainly the time of day to be out and about in Boston in the summer before the heat and humidity hits you. Rainy Day Driving Another photo taken while driving around the Boston area, today's commute was a little bit of a nightmare, driving around Boston at the best of times and you take your own life in your hands but when it rains you better start a praying! Taken with the LG Optimus Elite from the dashboard of my car (while stopped in traffic) cropped, converted to B&W White and selective color edited in post processing.

I95 Summer Driving In contrast to my post earlier this week today's driving around all points Mass was a joy (for the most part except for rt1 shopping areas). Taken with the LG Optimus Elite, cropped in post processing and yellow filter applied for that summer holiday of yesteryear look.

I93 Delays Interstate 93 is never fun to drive at the best of times, and avoiding it in the mornings is definitely the way to go (for me anyhow). However, my commute home on most days has been a breeze, not tonight however there were large delays in and out of Boston I93 North and South. If you're in the Boston area this evening avoid this route at all costs if you can! Taken with the LG Optimus Elite, cropped in post processing.
