Using the handheld night scene mode of my Canon Powershot asks it to take 3 quick consequetive shots and combines them to give a less blurred and supposedly less noisy image. I've found it to work well for static subjects, but for moving images it has a ghostly effect in the dark (see blog post of Jan 5). Using this mode in daylight has a similar ghostly effect on moving traffic of multiple exposures being overlayed. Looking at this image for any length of time may make you think you've had 1 too many to drink ;)
Taken with the Canon PowerShot SX230 HS in Handheld Night Scene mode. Tone corrected and cropped for composition in post processing.
